Is the Telegraph Journal being ironical?

It could be just sheer coincidence, but the title of the A4 editorial in the Telegraph Journal this morning slamming the Liberal government's self-sufficiency policy was a bit curious, especially since it has been used before as the title for a book critiquing a national policy implemented by a Liberal icon.

Again, just a coincidence? Or is this the TJ's way (or code) for saying "we don't endorse your education minister's bilingual policy?" :)

Either that, or they both thought of the same way to reword the title of a great Canadian literary work. Although, I think Mr. Reid has dibs.

Be careful about what you take from the telegraph, it is owned by Irving. Irving(Telegragh) does not want this province to become more prosperous because they would be subject to competition and would lose their strangle hold on the people. The Irvings want us to remain poor so that we will beg them for crappy paying jobs, that's how they became billionaires in a province of 700,000 people. He wants to make profit from eveything and run the competition out. That is why they own everything.

If that were true, then how do you explain McCains, Major Drilling and Ganon's (to name a few) and their ascendancy as international competitors on a global market? Judging by your theory, there is a vast conspiracy for Irving to own everything. Unfortunately, that is where your theory falls short, because it is obvious they don't.

If you want to find someone to blame (for our poor economy), look at the policies that have come out of Fredericton. They are responsible for our uncompetitiveness, not the Irving's. They are just one player in a small market.

I am with anon. on this one. Irving runs the media in the province so you have always read their editorials or opinion pieces with the insight that they are keeping their own interests at heart. What is good for Irving will always be in their papers. And as for Irving there is some truth to having a strangle hold on the province. They want to own and control everything that may bring competition to them. They are anti union and own 98% of print media. So NB'ers have go to other sources such as this to read more unbiased articles. And as if the Irvings haven't been treated well enough by our provinces they set up head offices in Bermuda to avoid taxes.
NBT there is no conspiracy, that would some how imply that they go about there business secretly, but not Irving they do it in the open because no papers in the province will write about this. Remember they own the media.
