Corporate welfare is costly, and it's wasteful

Province taxpayers out $1.5 million

People ask me: why are you so adamantly opposed to having government grants and loans given to private companies and firms?

Well, for one thing, when they close up shop or leave, New Brunswick taxpayers are still on the hook. Is that a good enough answer?

So much for the 'success' of corporate welfare!

I noticed when the government comments on policy reports and studies they use the tag line "this will help us become more self-sufficient" at the end of their sentence. Sort of like a cherry on top.

Anyway, I see the cherry is missing here.

Yes it is but nobody says anything.I remember Premier McKenna giving an 11 million dollar loan to UPS to set up a call center. How pathetic. And then he got a great big thank you from UPS by sitting on their corporate board. Money well spent!
