Bits 'n pieces, and eating crow

  • Ouch! I guess the lesson to be learned here is that no matter how good tax cuts are for both the economy and Canadians, the act of actually reducing them still gets overshadowed by the negativity of a political drama. However, as Gerry claims, the conservative drop in the polls could be attributed to far more than just the Mulroney-Schreiber scandal.

  • Facebook fuddle duddle. It's not quite his father flipping the bird to Canadians, but this recent facebook incident may be a harbinger of things to come, in that, it shows that the younger Trudeau may be just as arrogant as his father was.

  • WTF? I've heard a lot of crazy things in my day (hey, I campaigned up in the Miramichi for two months and I read Charles Leblanc's blog. lol), but that comment by Mohsen Yahyavi definitely puts him in a category all by himself. Can you say kook of the year? Although, I have to admit, this threat by former model Janice Dickinson is a very close second.

  • Good news. Canadians favour senate reform over abolition. Gee, it would seem the silent (or complacent) in New Brunswick are once again behind the rest of the country on this. Big surprise. Although, I'm sure most of the bandwagoners in this province would tell you they aren't supportive of status quo or the politicians who push it.

  • Don't get too comfortable. It appears as though Jim Travesty thinks Airbus II may have legs. If I were the Liberal leader, I wouldn't take his advice, because as many may remember, he was the one who gave it to Dithers.

Come on, as if everyone else in the world hasn't lied on their facebook page. I mean, are that many people REALLY friends w/ Stephane Dion?

As far as Airbus II, do we really need a public inquiry to prove Mulroney was a corrupt politician who took envelopes of cash from any and all? Maybe we should have an inquiry regarding the colour of the sky, or from which direction the sun will rise.

Even I have Warren Kinsella on my facebook friends list, and I don't even like him.

I guess it doesn't pay to fake being Liberal-lite.

anon: the one place where you can't hide on the net is facebook.

rob: as much as it may may cost taxpayers for a full judicial inquiry, it is the right thing to do. Canadians should know whether or not they should have paid Mulroney $2-million in compensation.

Even if he insists that the money was declared, and taxes paid, he is still obligated to set the record straight and explain himself further, including what he did for the money, and when he declared it. Furthermore, if he did take the cash, then he should give Canadians their $2 million back.

bill: so do I, but I think he's an alright guy.

anon: amen to that.

Come on, the fact is that not all canadians are dirt poor who need a few extra bills, or else they've actually interacted with the social system the country is trying to hold together. Polls have had both parties within 3% points for ages, not surprising with a minority government. THe only standout, surprise, suprise, is Global, which always puts the conservatives way ahead on polls with tiny demographics.

The only other point of interest is New Brunswickers views of the senate. I'm yet to see ANY conversation on this anywhere in the NB media, and have certainly never seen a poll. So there is little to go by in stating how New Brunswickers stand on that issue. I suspect most NBers really don't care as its not like the Senate has gone out of its way on maritime issues, or has much of a public face there-I've never seen the Irving media report on ANYTHING that the Senate has ever done, or is doing.
