The tax structure of New France Brunswick. Statism at its worst.

Victor Boudreau, Minister of tax the sidewalks.

So let's get this straight, they have a huge surplus sitting in freddy, but there will be no tax cut for big business, small business, middle income or lower income NBers. Is he serious? With rhetoric like that he would fit in well in places where they tax people and business into cultural isolation.

Although, I believe their citizens [France] were smart enough to realize that this regressive Nanny Statism had to come to an end sooner rather than later if they were ever to make the best of a 21st century global market economy. In other words, though it took them long enough, they realized that capital always takes the path of least political resistance. So here's hoping that New Brunswickers choose a leader in the mold of a Sarkozy the next go around, especially if you don't want your sidewalks and coffee cups taxed.

Judging from PEI's recent big spending budget, it looks like it will be a race to the bottom between them and us. Let's hope NS and NL can take up the slack with their newly found wealth.

Race to the bottom?? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we are already there. Unless there is another bottom I don't know about? Hell perhaps?

I really thought next budget that the Liberals would reduce the taxes they jacked up last time. Now, I'm seriously having my doubts. The surplus offered the proper chance to do the right thing and send back at least a portion of it. Clearly that will not happen.

bill: it will be interesting to see how that dynamic between him-Casey-Mackay plays out over time. I'm thinking it will go silent for awhile and then resurface during the election when Danny boy comes to the mainland in search of some payback.

greg: I'm sure there are a couple of us in this thread who would agree somewhat to your assessment.

spinks: Me too, especially since Graham pledged last spring to use tax breaks (credits?) instead of grants and subsidies to develop the economy and encourage more investment and growth.

At this point, I really don't see any commonsense in their plans and policies to strengthen our fledgling economy?? All they're doing is encouraging more outmigration and discouraging inmigration and investment, not to mention, longterm property owners are feeling the crunch where some can't afford to make ends meet. Not sure how that fits into the plans of properity and self-sufficiency?

Did you seriously just delete my comment about Grahams spending increase being the third lowest of all governments in canada in the past two decades?

The graph is right here:

Or should I have just not said to relax.
